I’m so happy to write Calcedon’s first blog posting. While it has been envisioned for quite a while, we’ve always wanted a focus to actually blog about, and to add value, not to just blog for blogging sakes or to have a blog never updated.

Calcedon is an evolving creature that is yet again taking the next evolutionary step into something perhaps unique. While I’ll dedicate future posts exclusively to it, the concept of a community of developers working commonly, yet at the same time having freedom to express themselves in different ways has always been an interest of mine. In recent times words to describe this have come to my attention, in particular the word cooperative. While Calcedon has been moving down this path for quite sometime, it wasn’t until this past week that the official Calcedon Cooperative was formed.

So as the Calcedon Cooperative grows, so shall this blog grow and represent the different thoughts of the members of the cooperative. I’m excited about where this is going, and perhaps even though the economy is tanking, such free flowing structures like cooperatives will thrive benefitting developers, interface artists, as well as the clients who need them.
